March of the Wrestlers

March has been a good month for this blog. I've surpassed fifty followers, which is pretty cool to think so many people are interested in what I've got to say (ok, it's probably the pictures instead of my commentary). And this month has featured more post than any other month since I began this blog. For some reason my creativity has been working overtime lately. And whenever I think I've said all there is to say, Thunders Arena comes around with a new match that offers me inspiration. I couple weeks ago they released a match with Dominic wrestling Python. Holy fuck! I don't think I can adequately put into words what I think about these two guys. Dominic in particular may be my favorite wrestler at Thunders Arena, probably beause he loves to gorilla press other dudes. What a life he has. Dominic gets to spend his days at the gym working out, building up his muscles, wrestling around with other muscled up dudes, totally kicking ass with bodyslams, overhead presses, and other power moves. This guy is living my dream.

The Wrestler's Name

I've always thought there are certain names that go well with wrestlers, names like Armstrong, Slaughter, Samson, Hunter, Payne. And as a first name, Matt is always a good one for a wrestler. There's a dude at Rock Hard Wrestling named Max Powers, which is another great name for a wrestler. It implies strength, stamina, domination. But we don't really get to see that coming from Max Powers in his match against Cody Nelson. It's a fun match to watch with a lot of sweat and muscle. Cody owns Powers, using multiple crotchlifts and bodyslams in the process. Speaking of wrestling names, Cody Nelson also has an appropriate one. I remember one time wrestling a kid named Nelson (last name, not first), and I thought it was kind of funny that I kept using a half nelson to put him on his back for points. Of course, your name doesn't really matter so long as they call you Winner once the match is over.

Liberated Dude

Not long ago I lamented the departure of Marcus Anthony from Ohio Valley Wrestling. But I guess not everyone is sad to see him go. Marcus Anthony's boy toy Joe Coleman seems pretty happy here now that he no longer has to fear being gorilla pressed repeatedly by the muscle bound bully. Let's see how long this happiness will last when Coleman goes up against the new bully on the block Rob Terry.

Undergear

It's Friday, and the weekend is here. If you can't find some way of having fun over the weekend in your underwear, you just aren't trying hard enough. One of the great things about wrestling is how few accessories you need to do it. Forget the expensive equipment and fancy uniforms. Just put on your favorite pair of designer underwear, Under Armor, or Nike Pro shorts and have at it. Trust me, my friend, you haven't really experienced the best of wrestling if you haven't rolled with another dude wearing nothing but your Fruit of the Loom boxer briefs.

Rob Terry

So, what's a guy like Jessie Godderz to do when his tag team partner moves on to another wrestling promotion? Well, he can team up with another muscle monster, this time in the form of Welsh wrestler Rob Terry. This wrestling bodybuilder comes in at 6'4" and 260 pounds, and is just another impressive slab of beef to grace the wrestling ring at Ohio Valley Wrestling. When you step into the ring with this guy, you know one way or another, your body is going to get slammed. The Terry-Godderz duo presently holds the tag team champion belt at OVW. Check out Beefcake for more great Rob Terry action photos.

Muscle On The Move

I think Marcus Anthony has to be one of my favorite wrestlers featured in this blog. The huge muscles. The intense, almost maniacal, facial expressions. The faux hawk. And most important, the complete and total domination of another dude by pressing him overhead. I really liked his pairing with Jesse Godderz as a tag team. But all good things must come to an end, and it looks like Marcus Anthony has moved from Ohio Valley Wrestling and on to Florida Championship Wrestling. This is a move up, so best of luck to him.

Jason's Back

Here's a little different perspective on Ohio Valley Wrestling superstar Jason Wayne as he gorilla presses a variety of opponents. I've featured Jason Wayne before because he does a good job of bodyslamming and gorilla pressing other dudes. Hell, if you're built as solidly as he is, it's the logical thing to do once you step into the wrestling ring. And speaking of Jason Wayne's build, just this past weekend he was bragging on Facebook about losing thirty pounds since the beginning of the year. Very impressive. Below is the leaner, meaner Jason Wayne, who I expect to continue to bodyslam the shit out of jobbers.

By the way, props to Penn State for winning another NCAA championship this weekend.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Since it's St. Patrick's Day, it seems appropriate to feature an Irish wrestler. This dude O'Shea wrestled a few matches for Thunders Arena a couple of years ago. At 6'3" and 210 pounds, O'Shea is no leprechaun who will lead you to a pot of gold. These pictures show him doing a pretty nice job of manhandling fellow TA wrestler Alexander. According to TA, O'Shea is a pro indy wrestler. Although I like indy wrestling, I don't do a good job of following it. Does anyone know anything about this guy?

Tristan Baldwin

Not too long ago I received an email informing me that Tristan Baldwin will soon be launching his own website, and much of the content will be devoted to wrestling. Most of you probably know Tristan Baldwin as Aryx Quinn, a stud heel wrestler for BG East. The first picture above is one of my favorites because it shows the strong dominating the weak, which lately is my favorite theme of fantasy pro wrestling. It's pretty cool outmuscling a smaller dude and dominating him with bodyslams, backbreakers, and other power moves. The last time I checked, Tristan Baldwin's website is not yet up and running, but once it is, I look forward to seeing some more bodyslamming action. Until then, you can follow Tristan on Twitter and You Tube. You should also check out his great wrestling action at BG East.

Now, let's all go out and celebrate Duke's first round loss in the tournament tonight.

Davey Slamfest Concludes

I don't think I've done five posts in a row on one wrestler before, but here we go again with one last look at Davey Richards. While he has dished out a lot of bodyslamming punishment during his time in the ring, he also has been on the receiving end many times. But let's not worry about Davey Richards. He was an accomplished amateur wrestler before going into the pros. He's working towards his black belt in jiu jitsu. He is a trained paramedic and has trained to become a firefighter. This is one tough dude. And he's the current Ring of Honor champion. So, you can bodyslam him all you want, but he's likely gonna come back and kick your ass.

So, I guess this concludes the Davey Richards Slamfest. I hope you guys have enjoyed it. Don't fret, though, because new and exciting posts are just over the horizon. I won't tell you exactly what's in store for you, but I'll give you a hint: "bodyslam".

Davey Press

Davey Richards is 5' 8" and about 210 pounds. He's very well built, and I bet your average male would know better than to start something with him. You'd get your ass kicked. But the world of professional wrestling does not feature your average male. It's filled with huge, muscle bound guys. So the irony is that a stud like Davey Richards may often find himself on the smaller side of things in this arena of supermen. I guess that's why he gets gorilla pressed as much as he does. These opponents of his have to be real bad asses to be able to press someone like Davey Richards overhead. As much as I like these pictures, I would love to see Davey Richards gorilla pressing dudes overhead, so if you happen to come across one, please share.

Davey's Best

I want to keep the spotlight on wrestler Davey Richards. I've already alluded before to his two best physical attributes - his muscular arms and his powerful legs. You can get a good look at them in all the pictures above. These surely must be invaluable assets to him when he's wrestling. If you ever find yourself wrestling Davey Richards, you may not like it when he gets one of his meaty arms through your crotch and picks you up, but you'll be thankful for his tree trunk-like legs that provide pillars of strong support as he parades you around the ring (of course, that's small consolation before the brutal bodyslam that's sure to come). Just be sure not to let him get those thighs of his around you once you're on the mat, or you may end up crushed like Ibushi (R.I.P.).

Davey's Bad Ass Attitude

One great thing about Davey Richards is his intensity. I don't think I've seen a picture of him smiling. He's a competitor who just wants to kick your ass. Davey has attitude. You can see that in these action photos where he's giving the finger with the hand he's got through his opponent's crotch. Not only is Davey publicly dominating another dude with one of the more humiliating holds in wrestling, but he's flipping off the crowd at the same time. That's bad ass, and I love it. The third picture above comes from a Cyberfights match where Davey's got Alex Koslov up with a really nice crotchlift before a brutal slam. The last picture is from Davey's match against Japanese wrestler Kota Ibushi. In that match, Davey effectively used successive bodyslams to soften up Ibushi's bones and muscles. This made it easier for Davey to use his massive thighs to squeeze the life out of the beaten and bloodied Ibushi (R.I.P.), as we saw in yesterday's post.
