Frat Boy Wrestling

I was starting a series of posts about the dudes at Ohio Valley Wrestling, but I will have to get back to that later because I've been distracted (again) by Thunders Arena. They've been issuing a lot of new matches this year featuring a lot of new wrestlers. Just today, I learned about a new match exclusive at Thunder TV where a wrestler named Prep makes his debut against Tak. TA describes Prep as their latest frat boy recruit. It seems like the wrestlers at TA fall into either the big bodybuilder category or the college frat boy category. I like both, but frat boy wrestling with guys like Prep is especially fun to watch. A while ago, Joe at Ringside blogged about his interview with Mr Mike, the head guy at Thunders Arena. Mr Mike said he started TA to show the fun frat-house side of wrestling, without all the sexual overtones. I think they do a good job of it when they bring in dudes like Prep, Tak, Dominic, Batar, and others. Many of us probably understand from our college days what Mr Mike is talking about, with a lot of wrestling and rough housing in frat houses and dorm rooms. And if you're a wrestler hanging out with other wrestlers, the rough housing activity increased tenfold. The common room in our dorm was the scene of many matches between dudes eager to prove who the alpha male was. It was great male bonding experience. Although Mr Mike says the wrestling at TA is without all the sexual overtones, it doesn't disappear completely. I mean, I can't help but notice that bulge in Tak's crotch as Prep gets him in the gorilla press (we've seen this before in another TA wrestling match between frat boys). Tak appears to be enjoying the gorilla press a lot more than the look of anguish on his face suggests. But then again, maybe this is the right way to enjoy getting owned by another muscled up frat jock.

By the way, these pics come from the promo video at Thunder TV. If you are a member, vote on whether or not you want to see Prep return (and please vote yes).

  1. pressing your opponent overhead kind of puts an end to the "Who is the alpha" argument.
