Odd Man Out

So, what happens to a lean, gawky, scrawny guy who finds himself in a wrestling ring with two beefy muscle guys?  He discovers pretty fast that he's the odd man out.

It's a two-on-one wrestling match at Wrestler4Hire featuring Brad Barnes, Austin Cooper, and Ethan Andrews.  Both Brad and Austin sport a lot of muscle on their bodies, but not so much for the lanky Ethan, who clearly looks like the odd man out.  I love Brad Barnes!  And I'm a big fan of Austin, too, because he loves bodyslams and other power moves.  But as for Ethan . . . well, I have to admit that I always struggle with him. The set up for this match is that Ethan has long been a a bully to Brad, but he finally gets his due when Brad and Austin exact revenge on the smaller dude. In real life no one would ever believe an Ethan could be a bully to a Brad Barnes, but in the world of underground wrestling, Ethan often plays the bully, or rather the heel, to bigger muscle guys.  And that's where I have struggled with Ethan.  I like seeing the good looking, masculine muscle jocks delivering a beat down on a smaller jobber.  But when I see Ethan giving a musclestud a beat down, it just doesn't appeal to me.  That's especially the case at 88Wrestling, where Ethan clearly is the "odd man out" among all the fitness studs and physique models on the roster there, but those muscleboys always seem to play jobber to Ethan's heel.  Of course, it's a matter of personal taste, and lots of guys obviously enjoy seeing Ethan in that type of match.  Also, to be fair, I don't want to give the impression that I don't like Ethan at all.  He's a talented and prolific wrestler, and I think he is awesome in the role of heel at UCW Wrestling.  He really fits in there.  But when he's wrestling a big, good-looking muscle jock, I want to see Ethan suffer.  So, this really is just a long-winded way of saying that I liked this two-on-one match at W4H a lot because two of my favorite musclestuds dominate Ethan with tons of power moves like bodyslams, pile drivers, backbreakers, torture racks, and bearhugs.  So there you go, Ethan!  Take that, you damn bully!

Now that's how a muscleboy treats a jobber!

Best of the Best

In my 500th blog post, I talked about one of my favorite all-time bodyslams.  And that got me to thinking about the other "best of" moves that can be found in my blog.  It's no secret that the over-the-knee backbreaker is one of my favorite wrestling moves, and I have posted many pics about it over the years.  So which one is the best of the best?  It's really no contest.  Hands down, it's muscleboy Brad Barnes breaking Tak's back over his knee in a match from Thunders Arena.

And what makes this one so great?  Well, first off, it features Brad Barnes.  That's pretty hard to beat right there.  Also, it begins with some flair, thanks to Tak as he kicks his legs about while Brad carries him to the center of the mat.  I love it when they kick!  And then Brad brings Tak down with such authority over the knee.  Ouch!  That's gonna be sore in the morning.  Brad then tortures Tak by stretching him out and grinding him over the knee. You'd think Tak should be in agony, but take a quick glance at his shorts and it seems like he's making the best out of a bad situation.

A perfectly executed backbreaker, right?  There's nothing left to do, right?  Wrong!  There's more!  Brad picks Tak back up (the little bitch still kicking his legs) and then cracks his back over the knee one more time.  This is ultimate muscleboy wrestling here.  I love it when a strong wrestler like Brad isn't content to just leave things at one backbreaker.  Brad has got the power, so why no show it off by breaking Tak's back one more time?  And I love how this move shows off Brad's massive shoulders.  Check out those fucking traps!  This is one of the longest OTK backbreakers I have ever seen.  It just goes on and on and on.

It's the backbreaker that keeps on giving.

Beach Wrestling

I remember several years ago when USA Wrestling began promoting competitive beach wrestling.  Beach volleyball had been popular for years, so why not do the same thing for wrestling?  It's a warm summer day, rolling around with another dude on the beach.  Sand up your nose.  Tiny pebbles in your hair.  Little shell fragments embedded in your back.  What's not fun about that?  I have to admit that wrestling on the beach in Florida or California is probably a lot more fun than on the shores of Lake Michigan, but hey, who am I to complain about another excuse to wrestle?  Anyway, beach wrestling is still going strong, and not just amateur style.  Wrestler4Hire has an awesome beach wrestling match that features Brad Barnes, who is one my absolute favorite wrestlers.  Brad's opponent in this one is Jake Steele, who at 6' 1" seems to tower over our bodybuilder hero.  But given Brad's thick muscles, both wrestlers are close in weight.  At the beginning of the match, Jake brags about his prowess in yoga.  Umm, yoga?  How much do you think yoga is going to help out Jake in hand to hand beach combat against Brad?  Based on these screen caps from the match, I think you get the picture.  W4H says about Jake that he's a fitness guru and jock who enjoys trying new things.  After his run in with our muscleboy Brad, I don't think Jake will be trying any more wrestling.

Dude, I gotta hang out at the beach more!

Brad Barnes

While sorting through my fan email this week, I came across one message asking me to name a favorite wrestler who has not yet been featured in my blog.  Ha ha, just kidding!  I never get any fan emails.  But if someone ever did ask me this question, Brad Barnes would be a good answer.  Sure, he's made appearances here and there in my blog, but I've never actually done a post to celebrate the wrestler.  I like Brad Barnes, and there's a lot about him to celebrate.  He's got good masculine features and a muscular physique, especially when he's in bodybuilder mode.  You expect a wrestler at 5' 9" and 200 pounds to be a powerful dude, and in the ring Brad can deliver power.  There are plenty of places to see him in action because Brad has made the rounds to several different wrestling websites, including BG East, Thunders Arena, Muscle Domination Wrestling, and recently he's been wrestling with Cameron Mathews' group at Wrestler 4 Hire.  It looks like Brad serves as a jobber more often than not, but in some matches he shows a heel side.  And even when he's a jobber, Brad still gets in several good alpha wrestling moves.  Brad's got muscles, and he knows how to use them.  I guess that's why I like him so much as a wrestler.

I certainly haven't come close to watching all of Brad's matches, but I have to admit that one of my favorite all time wrestling matches features Brad, and it's his match at Thunders Arena against Tak.  The main reason this one is a favorite is because Brad delivers one of the best over the knee backbreakers I have seen.  The whole sequence lasts almost two minutes and begins with Brad flat on his back on the mat.  It's a testament to his strength and power that from a prone position he takes hold of Tak, scoops him into the air, brings him down across the knee for backbreakers, and ultimately ends with a bodyslam.   It's hard to describe in words, but you can check the match out at Thunders Arena.  If you do, you'll be treated to awesome scenes like this:

Fucking killer!  Hey Brad, sorry for taking so long to do a feature on you in my blog!  You're a certified muscleboy of wrestling!

The Reluctant Jobber

Not long ago I posted some photos that wrestler Darius had sent me from matches he produced himself.  But in addition to his own matches, Darius also appears in some well know internet productions, including Muscle Domination Wrestling.  In one match at MDW he faces Brad Barnes in a video called Meaty Muscle Massacre.  From the pictures at least, it looks like Darius is the meaty muscle being massacred.  In another video he faces Braden Charron in a match called Power Move Punishment, where Braden executes some of his best power moves to punish Darius.  I'm not sure of Darius' stats, but he looks like a pretty solid dude.  Definitely not someone who looks like a jobber in the wrestling ring.  So I'm a little surprised by these matches, but I can't be critical about it.  I have to confess, as much as I like to think of myself as an alpha male when it comes to wrestling, I wouldn't mind jobbing for either Brad Barnes or Braden Charron.

Backbreaker Sunday

The dudes at Rock Hard Wrestling, No Rules Wrestling, Thunders Arena, and other internet based wrestlers make wrestling look like a bunch of fun and games, all for our entertainment.  But truth be told, like the above pictures show, sometimes wrestling can be hard, backbreaking work (ha ha, get it?  backbreaking?).  But then other times, as we see below, it's just pure unadulterated fun.

Muscles in Action

I know it has been many months since my last post.  I guess over the past year I have found less and less time to spend on this blog, and to be honest, it's probably pretty much run its course.  How much more can you say about a bodyslam anyway?  Luckily, while I may be running out of words to say, wrestling productions are still turning out products that continue to inspire, and every once in a while I come across some things that are worth saying a few words about.  If you have followed this blog, it's no secret that I like OTK backbreakers, so you can figure out why these pictures appeal to me.  The first two action photos come from a match at Thunders Arena featuring Brad Barnes against Tak.  I've seen the whole match and found it well worth the price of admission.  The backbreaker Barnes gives Tak is probably one of the best I have seen.  It actually begins with Barnes flat on his back and Tak on top of him.  Barnes takes a hold of Tak and somehow works his way to his feet, taking Tak up with him.  It's a testament to the strength and power of the bodybuilder wrestler.  But the best is yet to come when Barnes drops Tak over his knee and holds him there for almost  minute.  Tak squirms and cries out in agony, but he just can't break free of Barnes' powerful arms.  It's pretty impressive.  The next photos come from a match at No Rules Wrestling between Dave Calbrese and Lorenzo Smalls.  I haven't seen the entire match, but from the preview, it looks like Calbrese gets in some good power moves, including this sick OTK backbreaker.

Aside from the crotchlifts and backbreakers, it's the specific pairing of wrestlers in these two matches that leads to good quality action (at least in my opinion).  I have always liked a wrestling contest where a muscular wrestler dominates a slightly smaller opponent.  Maybe it's because I was a wrestler back in school, so I like to see the muscle guy win.  In his match against Tak, Brad Barnes does a lot of showing off and flexing of muscles, and then he puts those muscles to good use with his awesome backbreaker.  Dave Calbrese's muscularity is readily evident in the third photo, especially compared to the much leaner Lorenzo, who fruitlessly struggles in Calbrese's powerful arms.  All in all, both matches present a great combination of muscles, lean bodies, and power moves.

Well, I hope you dudes enjoy these photos.  Let's hope it won't be another six months before I make another post.

Backbreakers

Sometimes there's no need to say much about the wrestling photos I post to my blog.  The action caught on camera just speaks for itself.  Each and every one of these pictures is a study in awesomeness.  I love the OTK backbreaker.
