Wrestler of the Year 2013

The winner of the coveted Wrestler of the Year Award for 2013 is none other than Brodie Fisher of Rock Hard Wrestling!  Actually, I didn't put much thought into this because I came across this photos of Brodie in action against Luke Harrison and happen to be posting them at the end of the year.  Although the honor I've given him is somewhat random, Brodie really executes a good looking bodyslam here, one of the best I've seen all year.  And I have been impressed with his other wrestling matches this year, so I'd say he deserves the honor as much as anyone else.  Let's hope Brodie continues to entertain us in 2014.

Feed the Beast

When we last saw Krush, he was taking lessons from Dave Calbrese on how to execute a bodyslam.  Did Krush learn his lesson well?  From the looks of his match against a dude named Brody, I'd say he did.  This looks like a big versus little contest with Krush delivering a beat down.  It's part of a series of matches called "Fresh Meat", and No Rules Wrestling uses the little guy Brody to feed the beast we know as Krush.  I'm glad to see NRW is letting Krush show is heel side.

Random Slamness

Here's another random collection of bodyslam action, but it's not entirely random.  Think of it as a tribute to all those indy wrestlers who may never make it to the ranks of WWE but continue go out there and put their bodies at risk in order to entertain the rest of us.  The first two photos feature Jeff Cobb and Tonga, guys who wrestle out in California.  I don't know the wrestlers in the third and fourth photos.  The fifth dude, of course, is Scotty Mac, who keeps going strong after all these years, and the final dude is muscle man Mike Petersen from Australia.

Cyber Monday

If you are looking for some Christmas gifts on Cyber Monday, be sure to check out Thunders Arena and a match featuring Dominic and a new guy named Rocco.  Dominic has a fifty pound advantage over the rookie, so you can guess how the match turns out.  It's another classic "big vs little" match from our friends at Thunders Arena.  But if you want to see it, act fast.  It's for sale today only.

Backbreakers

Sometimes there's no need to say much about the wrestling photos I post to my blog.  The action caught on camera just speaks for itself.  Each and every one of these pictures is a study in awesomeness.  I love the OTK backbreaker.

Jessie and Marcus

A long time ago, Jessie Godderz and Marcus Anthony were the original Dream Team at Ohio Valley Wrestling.  Well, we all know that the team didn't last, and Marcus Anthony went away for a while, and now upon his return to OVW, Marcus has paired up with Rob Terry to form a new Dream Team.  Yet it was inevitable that Marcus and Jessie should face each other in a wrestling match at OVW, which they did recently in a tag team event.  It doesn't look like a happy reunion, and Marcus Anthony in particular is taking things pretty hard as Jessie Godderz scoops him up for a bodyslam.  But don't spend much time worrying about Marcus Anthony.  He gets his mojo back later in the match by bodyslamming Jessie's tag team partner Rudy Switchblade.  And sometime soon maybe we'll get to see Marcus doing the same to Jessie.

The Dude Press

Action photos from wrestling matches are the mainstay of my blog, but I love it when I come across photos of your average, everyday muscle dude showing off his stuff by executing a pro wrestling power move on another guy.  I wish I could find more pictures like these, and it would be especially great to see some of muscle dudes scoopslamming other guys (if any young muscle studs out there are reading this blog, send me your pics!).  All these guys are like minded.  They know that one of the best things about having muscles is using them to dominate other dudes.

Zeus

Here are some more pictures of Japanese wrestler Zeus in action.  If you're a wrestler with muscles like his, it would be a crime to not humiliate your opponents by picking them up and pressing them overhead.  It's very appropriate that this guy has taken the name of Zeus, the Greek diety known as the Father of gods and Men.  He may be from Japan, but I can easily see the ancient Greeks bowing down before this muscle god.  A dream match would be Zeus wrestling Marcus Anthony, and as much as I like Marcus Anthony, I would love to see Zeus press him overhead.  Who's with me?

Beast of the East

Most guys who wrestled in high school are familiar with the Beast of the East tournament, which takes place in Delaware every December.  When I was in high school, it was the most prestigious scholastic wrestling tournament in the country.  It's a "beast" of a tournament because it regularly draws over 100 teams.  And the dude who is talented enough to actually win his weight class out of such a large competition pool truly can claim that he is a "beast" among his fellow wrestlers. Unfortunately for me, my school never participated in the tournament because it mostly draws from teams along the East Coast.  But even now, after high school, I like to check up on the tournament results because the boys who win today are the men who represent the USA in wrestling tomorrow.  It's a good place to see the up and coming talent in amateur wrestling.  So, you're probably wondering what does this have to do with my post today?  I came across these photos of Far East wrestler Zeus (real name Kenshou Obayashi?) who competes in Japan.  He's six feet tall, weighs in at 240 pounds, and he loves to press dudes overhead.  What's not to like about that?  He's the true Beast of the East.  I'd like to throw him into a tournament with over 1000 wrestlers and see what havoc he can create.

Babyface Wrestlers

I was looking through my stash of wrestling photos the other day and came across these from a match featuring Austin Cooper and Cameron Mathews.  I can't believe I haven't used these in a post before.  I'm not sure where I originally found these, but checking out the BG East website, the action comes from a match called Babyface Brawls (although "babyface" doesn't immediately come to my mind seeing these two dudes battling it out).  Usually I don't give BG East a lot of attention in my blog as compared to the matches at Thunders Arena, Rock Hard Wrestling, and other companies.  But this match here looks pretty awesome, so maybe BG East deserves some further consideration.

Krush's Education

In yesterday's blog Dave Calbrese offers to give Krush some bodyslam pointers at No Rules Wrestling.  Both Calbrese and Krush practice on Brian Walters, but the many slams leave Walters comatose on the mat.  Calbrese wonders aloud how they are going to practice their bodyslams now that their playtoy is immobile on the ground.  Krush decides there's no time like the present to show the teacher what the student has learned, so he scoops Calbrese high up into the air.  Krush asks, "Am I doing it right?"  And a panicked Dave Calbrese shouts "You're not doing it right!  You're not doing it right!"  But I disagree.  Krush has his arm nice and deep in Calbrese's crotch.  He lifts his opponent high up into the air with Calbrese's legs dangling over his head.  Krush holds Calbrese up like this for several seconds, then dumps him over for a powerful bodyslam.  I'd say that Krush is doing it just right.  Considering how Krush tosses Calbrese through the air, this video could be called Flight School rather than Fight School.
