Wrestling to the Max

I've said it before.  I really need to check out UCW Wrestling more often.  Because every time I do, I'm very pleased with the wrestling matches they produce.  Today's match is between Max Ryder and Malik.  We've seen Malik before, but this is the first time I get to feature Max.  I hope it's not the last.

Max Ryder is billed at 180 pounds, while Malik weighs in at a mere 152 pounds.  When you give up 28 pounds in wrestling, you're probably going to pay for it.  And for most of the match, Max uses his size advantage to make Malik pay.  It's not totally one sided because Malik is able to get in some moves, mostly after disabling Max with a cheap shot, but Max proves to be too big and too strong for Malik to control forever.  Max really wrestles with a certain intensity in this match.  It's almost like he's used to being a jobber, and now finding himself a heel, he really savors his destruction of Malik.  For his part, Malik seems to enjoy being manhandled by muscleboy Max.  You can't really tell from these pics, but I think Malik is actually grinning much of the time while Max takes him apart.  I think if I were Max in this match, I'd be the one smiling.  There aren't many things much more enjoyable for a wrestler than being able to make another dude your bitch.

Bash Wednesday

I hope this post does not come across as sacreligious.  I certainly don't mean it that way at all.  It's Ash Wednesday, and earlier today I was at a church service where the priest said a few things about suffering and enduring.  Later, when I thought back on what was said, I couldn't help but think of Zach Reno and my last post about all the suffering he endured in his match at Wrestler4Hire against MarkO.  It seems that match isn't the only one where Zach gets tossed around and tortured by a bigger guy.

These screenshots come from a match at Undergound Championship Wrestling between Zach (or "Zack" as he's called at UCW) and Gabe Steel, and Zach suffers and endures a lot here, too.  Gabe Steel is beefier than I generally like in a wrestler, but in this match he's the stronger and bigger dude, and he takes advantage of it.  Now, don't be fooled by the pictures I've chosen to post.  This match in no way is a squash job.  But there are lots of lifts and carries and slams, so for my tastes, Gabe delivers.  And as he suffers and endures, Zach responds by giving us many more of those "faces of pain" that we love to see.

Maybe Zach should give up wrestling for Lent.

Singlet Season

I need to check out Underground Championship Wrestling more often, because when I do, I find an unexpected gem.  The match here in today's post is definitely one of them.  It caught my attention because the wrestlers are in singlets, which I find appropriate for this time of year with the college wrestling season just beginning.  The starring wrestlers are Aron (red) and Malik (blue), and the two put on a great wrestling match.  From my somewhat trained eye, Aron looks like he's a much more skilled wrestler than Malik, and if this were a true competition, I suspect he would have had Malik pinned and tied up like a pretzel repeatedly.  But this match is also about the entertainment, and I was greatly entertained.  Malik may not be as skillful of a mat wrestler as Aaron, but he knows enough to make a good show out of it.  The wrestlers agree at the beginning to make it a best three out of five match, and it goes all five rounds before one of them finally claims victory.  There's good back and forth action, and while much of it is mat wrestling, Aron and Malik produce some good pro-style lift and carry moves.  That's important for me because it means I can feature this match in my blog.  Aron in particular I liked.  He has appeared in several matches at UCW, but now he's listed as "retired".  That's too bad for us because I would love to see him star in more matches.

Malik says, "You gotta love wrestling in singlets!"

I'm Back!

Wow, has it really been almost 8 months since I last posted in my blog?  I remember a few years ago realizing that there's only so much to say about bodyslams, and I was running out of things to cover.  But every once in a while something comes up that catches my attention, like this clip here from UCW.  The muscleboy in orange gets a good grip between his opponent's legs, scoops up the yellow jobber, then bodyslams him like the bitch he is.  So simple, yet so beautiful. God, after all these years, I still love a fucking bodyslam!

I'm sure someone out there knows who these wrestlers are and which match video it comes from.  Please share.  And I'll try to start posting again more regularly this year.  And if you have suggestions about cool bodyslams, gorilla presses, or otk backbreakers I can post, please comment below or email me.  Thanks guys!

EDIT:  It's Jack Marino against Aron.  Check the match out at the link here.

Jack in the Box

This is a continuation of my last post featuring Jack Marino in his match at Underground Championship Wrestling against Johnny Deep.  It's accepted procedure at these internet wrestling productions to have gear that isn't exactly regulation in the world of wrestling, and UCW is no exception.  But even accepting this fact, I have to say Johnny Deep's thong is a little too much (or maybe a little too little).  He's really showing more skin that I usually feel comfortable featuring in my family-friendly blog.  Before the match begins, Johnny boasts that his pale and pasty glutes drive the woman wild.  When he tries to flex them, though, all gets from Jack is "Ew!  They jiggle!"  I'll agree with Jack on this one.  Ew!

Anyways, Jack doesn't let his opponent's overexposed flesh intimidate him.  In fact, maybe it motivates Jack even more to lay a hurting on Johnny to punish him for his insolence in showing up on the mat in such a skimpy outfit.

In the end, I'd say that Johnny's thong makes his beat down look even more humiliating.

Jack Marino

It's only recently that I began giving some attention to Underground Championship Wrestling, and it looks like I've been missing out on some pretty good wrestling action over the past few years.  If you ever look over my blog, you'll see that I spend a lot of time talking up wrestling productions like Thunders Arena and Rock Hard Wrestling.  These companies capitalize on niche markets in the underground wrestling world, with TA mostly featuring the bigger bodybuilders and muscle guys and RHW drawing its talent from the fitness model and college jock crowd.  As much as I like both TA and RHW, there's a big world of wrestling out there, including the likes of UCW, and I haven't been giving proper credit to a lot of it.

You know, one reason why I think wrestling is the greatest sport is because size doesn't matter.  You can be any size, and wrestling gives you an opportunity to compete.  You probably won't see most of UCW's athletes competing at TA or RHW, but that doesn't make them any less of an athlete . . . or any less of an alpha stud.  Take Jack Marino of UCW as an example.  He's only 5' 4" and 135 pounds.  Looks like he's just a kid.  You wanna call him Jack Jack.  But make no mistake.  He may be small, but Jack Jack is all wrestler.  That's clearly obvious in a match where UCW pits him against the taller, lankier Johnny Deep.  Jack Jack proves that you don't need to be a hulking bodybuilder to give us some awesome power moves like bodyslams, backbreakers, bearhugs, and piledrivers.  Jack Jack also proves that you can be small in stature but still be a total alpha wrestler.

I often talk about the muscleboys of wrestling and how they are certified to flex their biceps.  But I have to say that Jack Jack gives us the best biceps flex I've ever seen a wrestler give:

Holy fuck!  I love it!

The Mohawk

Wrestlers like to promote their individuality, and one way to do so is through hairstyle.  I remember back in high school we all dyed our hair blond at the beginning of one season.  Of course, if every guy on the team colored his hair the same, was that really an expression of individualism?  Anyway, we thought it was cool.  But there's one hairstyle that I saw back when I was a kid and still see today in wrestling, and that's the Mohawk.  I can't think of a whole team who wore the style, but there were always a few dudes each season who sported the look.  The Mohawk usually is worn as a symbol of non-conformity and adds a little charisma to the dude who's wearing it.  I think it's a good look for a wrestler.  Modeling the Mohawk for us today is Dakota Bravo from Underground Championship Wrestling in a match where he tosses little Hiro around for our enjoyment.  I have to admit, the Mohawk adds a little extra flavor of bad ass to his bodyslams.  Thanks Dakota!

Kevin Lin

Yo!  I don't know why I haven't done so before, but recently I decided to check out Underground Championship Wrestling, and I'm glad I did.  Here are some pics from a match between Eli Black and Kevin Lin.  Eli has already made a few appearances in my blog, but this is Kevin's debut.  I've featured several Asian professional wrestlers in my blog before, but it's rare to find an Asian active in underground wrestling, so Kevin here is an excellent find.  I'll probably have to check out his other matches at UCW where I hope he dishes out more otk backbreakers on his opponents.  For additional pictures and some excellent commentary about this match, be sure to check out Joe's blog at Ringside.

So, can someone please explain to me why I really, really, really want to have a wrestling match against Kevin Lin right now?
