Shoulder Day

Today was shoulder day at the gym, so I got to work with my new instructional weight lifting video from Thunders Arena.  Now I'm sore as fuck but can't complain about the results I'm seeing.  I'm getting swoll, dudes.

Random Racks

Sometimes I think about changing the title of my blog to "Bodyslam and Torture Rack Fan", but since the current name has such strong brand recognition, it's probably best not to mess with it.  Still, that doesn't mean I can't post awesome pictures of torture racks (since it's my blog, I guess I can post whatever I want).  I like shoulder racks for many of the same reasons I like bodyslams.  It's a great lift and carry move that gives the alpha wrestler the opportunity to show who is in charge.  And it's easier to pick up and carry around your victim in a rack than it is for a bodyslam.  But from a jobber's perspective it can be different.  A bodyslam can be kind of fun at first because you get picked up and carried around before the pain of the slam, but with a torture rack, the punishment comes immediately with being carried around.  And if you want to be a super alpha wrestler, you can make the jobber suffer for as long as you want with a rack.  Several of the pics above come from Thunders Arena because the wrestlers there do a great job with torture racks.  But the move has universal appeal among all wrestlers, so you can see it pretty much anywhere.  It's just an awesome move.

Newcomer of the Year

There were many great wrestlers to consider when deciding who should be Wrestler of the Year.  But several dudes we looked at are relative newcomers to the wrestling scene, and they didn't have a large enough body of work to justify winning the award.  Yet these new guys deserve some sort of recognition.  That's why for this year Bodyslam Fan Blog has created a special "Newcomer of the Year" award and giving it to Jersey of Thunders Arena.  At 5' 11" and 205 pounds, this dude is a beast, and his wrestling is solid.  Jersey pretty much clinched the award with this stunning gorilla press during his match with Tak and looking diesel while doing so.  They say a picture is worth a thousand words, which is good because this photo leaves me (almost) speechless.

You know, Tak has long been the boy toy at TA because he finds himself gorilla pressed repeatedly by many of the other muscle wrestlers.  With this in mind, I'm hoping TA will also make Tak wrestle newcomers Eagle and Travis soon so Tak can find himself once again in this familiar position.  It never gets old, especially when performed by a dude like Jersey.
