From Bad to Worse

This is a continuation of my last post about Lorenzo's bad day at No Rules Wrestling, and as we see, his day goes from bad to worse  His custom match with Sasha Samson has so much good stuff in it, I can probably do five or six posts if I wanted.  The match really is a showcase for Sasha to display his power over the smaller Lorenzo, who as we saw in my last post suffers through many bodyslams and torture racks.  Today we highlight Sasha's ability to dish out awesome over-the-knee backbreakers, which he does repeatedly on Lorenzo.  Now, don't think that Lorenzo is nothing but a boytoy for the big new guy.  NRW filmed several matches featuring the two wrestlers, and Lorenzo shows that he can be pretty bad ass, too, when he needs to be.  Be sure to check those matches out at the NRW website.

After such a rough day, Lorenzo deserves to take a little break.

Lorenzo's Bad Day

For reasons I can't fully articulate, Lorenzo Smalls probably is my favorite wrestler at No Rules Wrestling, especially when he's wearing his white Under Armour shorts.  I envy his job where he gets paid to appear in wrestling matches at NRW.  At least I assume he gets paid.  But as we all know, not every job is perfect all the time, and even our hero Lorenzo has a bad day now and then.

NRW has a feature where fans can order custom videos, and recently Lorenzo was available for these special wrestling matches.  This was really a way for NRW to introduce a new wrestler on their roster, a guy named Sasha Samson.  He's a pretty big muscle dude, especially compared to Lorenzo.  One of the custom matches is a lift and carry session where Sasha bodyslams, torture racks, and backbreaks Lorenzo repeatedly.  For a guy like me who loves lift and carry action, this video is pretty awesome.  And from the looks of it, it's an easy challenge for Sasha since he outweighs Lorenzo by about forty pounds.  But for Lorenzo, well . . . its a tough job, but someone has to do it.  Thanks Lorenzo!  We appreciate you being such a good sport about this.

Looks like there's a new Muscle Boy in town!

Backbreaker Monday

It's time again for another Backbreaker Monday post to pay homage to that awful first day of the week when we have to go back to work.  The sponsor for today's Backbreaker Monday is No Rules Wrestling, which recently produced a match featuring our favorite hero David Calbrese breaking the back of Lorenzo Smalls.  When it comes to an over the knee backbreaker, Calbrese is one of the best in the business.  Be sure to check out NRW.  For a limited time only, all matches are only five dollars!

Ouch!  That's how I felt after last night's Bears vs Packers game.

Tis the Season for Wrestling

Most people think of early December as the start of the Christmas season, but for many high school and college athletes around the country, it's the beginning of wrestling season!  This fact is not lost on Matt Meadlock and Lorenzo Smalls at No Rules Wrestling.  Recently the two dudes strapped on singlets and jumped into the ring for a good old fashion freestyle wrestling match.  Here we see Matt Meadlock being aggressive, scoring two points with a nice takedown.  Then he goes on to expose Lorenzo for backpoints, earning three more points with the move (funny, I don't remember OTK backbreakers being legal when I was in school).  It's short time Lorenzo!  Work the escape!

On another topic, while the temps are getting cold up here in the States, things are heating up in Singapore.  Our good buddies Andruew Tang and Destroyer Dharma (along with their stablemate Trexxus) are primed for action at Singapore Pro Wrestling this weekend with Wrestle the Odds II.   Too bad I'm over 9000 miles away, or I'd be there to watch the combat.  These guys are not lacking in confidence and look tough to beat.  I can hardly wait to see how things turn out for our heroes.

Backbreaker Sunday

The dudes at Rock Hard Wrestling, No Rules Wrestling, Thunders Arena, and other internet based wrestlers make wrestling look like a bunch of fun and games, all for our entertainment.  But truth be told, like the above pictures show, sometimes wrestling can be hard, backbreaking work (ha ha, get it?  backbreaking?).  But then other times, as we see below, it's just pure unadulterated fun.

Wrestler in Blue Jeans

One thing to love about wrestling is that the gear is simple.  You can pretty much wear anything you want (so long as you're not in any official competition).  It seems like most of the online wrestling producers like to outfit their wrestlers in briefs and posers, but sometimes you see them in larger trunks and squarecuts.  I tend to prefer to see trunks and squarecuts on wrestlers because I think it makes them look more like jocks and athletes.  Recently No Rules Wrestling produced a match with Matt Meadlock and Lorenzo Smalls wrestling in blue jeans.  I highly approve.  Shirtless and blue jeans is very masculine, especially if you can get your opponent in a sick looking crotchlift for an otk backbreaker like Meadlock does here.

NRW also just released several matches with its wrestlers clad only in Under Armour shorts.  I'd have to say that right now Under Armour shorts are my favorite gear for wrestling.  One of the Under Armour matches again features Meadlock and Lorenzo.  From the preview, I can't tell if there are any bodyslams, but even if there aren't, this match still may be well worth the price of admission.

Muscles in Action

I know it has been many months since my last post.  I guess over the past year I have found less and less time to spend on this blog, and to be honest, it's probably pretty much run its course.  How much more can you say about a bodyslam anyway?  Luckily, while I may be running out of words to say, wrestling productions are still turning out products that continue to inspire, and every once in a while I come across some things that are worth saying a few words about.  If you have followed this blog, it's no secret that I like OTK backbreakers, so you can figure out why these pictures appeal to me.  The first two action photos come from a match at Thunders Arena featuring Brad Barnes against Tak.  I've seen the whole match and found it well worth the price of admission.  The backbreaker Barnes gives Tak is probably one of the best I have seen.  It actually begins with Barnes flat on his back and Tak on top of him.  Barnes takes a hold of Tak and somehow works his way to his feet, taking Tak up with him.  It's a testament to the strength and power of the bodybuilder wrestler.  But the best is yet to come when Barnes drops Tak over his knee and holds him there for almost  minute.  Tak squirms and cries out in agony, but he just can't break free of Barnes' powerful arms.  It's pretty impressive.  The next photos come from a match at No Rules Wrestling between Dave Calbrese and Lorenzo Smalls.  I haven't seen the entire match, but from the preview, it looks like Calbrese gets in some good power moves, including this sick OTK backbreaker.

Aside from the crotchlifts and backbreakers, it's the specific pairing of wrestlers in these two matches that leads to good quality action (at least in my opinion).  I have always liked a wrestling contest where a muscular wrestler dominates a slightly smaller opponent.  Maybe it's because I was a wrestler back in school, so I like to see the muscle guy win.  In his match against Tak, Brad Barnes does a lot of showing off and flexing of muscles, and then he puts those muscles to good use with his awesome backbreaker.  Dave Calbrese's muscularity is readily evident in the third photo, especially compared to the much leaner Lorenzo, who fruitlessly struggles in Calbrese's powerful arms.  All in all, both matches present a great combination of muscles, lean bodies, and power moves.

Well, I hope you dudes enjoy these photos.  Let's hope it won't be another six months before I make another post.

Lorenzo

We saw Lorenzo Smalls in my last post.  I doubt Smalls is his real name, but it's probably something No Rules Wrestling gave him.  Let's face it.  Lorenzo is not a big guy, especially in the world of pro-style wrestling.  In fact, he's down right skinny.  I've done many, many posts extolling the virtues of the muscular dudes of wrestling.  But you can't always overlook the skinny dudes.  Some skinny dudes are deceptively strong and pack a lot of power in their lean bodies.  In the match above, Lorenzo faces off against Drake.  Now, Drake himself is of modest proportions in the world of pro wrestling, but he looks beefy and muscular compared to Lorenzo.  This should be an easy match for Drake, right?  Actually not, because the skinny dude wins.  Lorenzo caps off his victory by scooping Drake up and bodyslamming him before the pin.  Lorenzo may not look like the type who can lift and toss other dudes around, but there's hidden power within that small stature of his.  He also proves what I have said many times about technique.  The nice, deep crotch hold Lorenzo secures on the bigger Drake goes a long way in allowing the skinny guy to hoist up his larger opponent for the winning bodyslam.
