The Other Face of Wrestling

Newton's third law says that every action has an opposite and equal reaction (I had to google that - I'm not a science guy).  In my last post I talked about the expressions of triumph on the alpha wrestler.  But for every dominant wrestler, there's a dude getting dominated.  We see them here.  In reaction to the cocky, arrogant sneers of their tormentors, these guys' faces are opposite expressions of anguish, dismay, and shattered dreams (soon to be followed by shattered backs).  At least in the world of real wrestling, you don't want to admit that there's someone who is bigger and stronger and better than you.  And when you do come up against that guy (as almost all of us have), it can shake your faith.  This is the moment that seperates the posers from the real wrestlers.  The poser gives up and goes home.  The real wrestler is motivated to work even harder so it doesn't happen again.

Travis Lee

When I think of Travis Lee and wrestling, I think of the wrestler from Cornell who won a couple of NCAA championships a few years back. This guy here in the Cyber Fights match against Suicide Kid definitely isn't the same person. I haven't learned a whole lot about him, other than it looks like he and Suicide Kid had a rivalry going back in the early days of Cyber Fights. Other than some more Cyber Fights matches, it doesn't look like he's done much wrestling in the past ten years. Which is too bad. At 5'11" and a lean, muscular build, he cuts a pretty good figure in the ring, especially in those blue wrestling shorts. He showed great strength by tossing around Suicide Kid several times in this match. If anyone has an update on the whereabouts of Travis Lee or Suicide Kid these days, please share.

More Suicide Kid

My last few posts have featured squash jobs, but the match here is different. This is another old Cyber Fights match featuring Suicide Kid, and this time he wrestles Travis Lee. Although a good squash job can be entertaining, I like better those matches between muscle boys of roughly equal size. It gives the appearance of being a real wrestling match with two guys competing in the same weight class. This match gives us Suicide Kid and Travis Lee who are both heavily muscled and advertised at about 195 pounds. There's a lot of good give and take in this one with the action going back and forth before Suicide Kid takes the match by winning two out of three pin falls. And of course he gets in a few good bodyslams in the process.

Suicide Kid

These come from an old Cyber Fights match featuring Suicide Kid (Mikey Henderson) against Ben Quest. I'm not sure what these guys are up to today, but it doesn't look like they've done much wrestling in the ten years since this match. This fight was a total mismatch, like Man vs. Boy. Quest was no match against SK's hulking musclebound body. I mean, in the second photo you can see how SK's meaty arms are almost as big as Quest's thighs. I have to admit I enjoyed watching this match, not because I liked seeing Quest get his ass kicked, but because I liked seeing the Kid dominate. And, well, maybe I have a little bully in me too, I don't know. But I also have to give props to Quest. He really let his body take a lot of punishment in this match, and he sold it pretty well.
