Support the Z-Man!

Many of you probably know already that Zack Vazquez, better know to us a the Z-Man, suffered serious injury in a car accident not long ago.  To support Zack and his family during this difficult time, Weekend Wrestling has posted a match of the Z-Man against Jack Worthington.  A few screen caps from that match are featured here.  All proceeds from sales of the match will go toward a recovery find set up in Zack's name, so go to WW and check it out!

Zack has been a prolific wrestler, performing at a multitude underground wrestling companies, including 88Wrestling.  This week's special deal at 88Wrestling is the Flex City match between the Z-Man and Tanner Hill, which I featured before in my blog.  This is really a fun match to watch, and 88Wrestling will be donating proceeds from its sale to Zack's recovery fund, too.  If you haven't seen the match yet, this is a great time to check it out!

The Z-Man never gives up!

UPDATE:  For those interested, there's also a GoFundMe account here to help Zack.

I'm On Team Jett

Not long ago while promoting its newest match between Jett Bentley and Ethan Andrews, 88Wrestling asked us whether we are on Team Jett or Team Ethan.  Well, I've mentioned before my thoughts about Ethan Andrews, so there's no need to re-hash them again here.  Let's just say it comes as no surprise that I am totally on Team Jett!

Jett Bentley arrived at 88Wrestling a couple years ago as a ripped, rookie wrestler, described as a gym freak with a shredded physique.  After a few matches, Jett disappeared for a while before returning as a ripped wrestler, a gym freak with a shredded physique, but now with twenty additional pounds of muscle.  Holy crap!  He's even bigger and better!  The new and improved Jett has wrestled in several more matches now, but surprisingly this is the first time I have featured him in my blog.  He's muscular, masculine, confident, and boasts good looks.  These are all the qualities I love in a wrestler.  When it comes to choosing sides, there's no doubt I'm on Team Jett.

 Team Jett rocks Ethan!

Return to Flex City

If there's one thing all muscleboys love to do, it's flex.  Our friends over at 88 Wrestling understand this, so every once in a while they like to let their wrestlers show off their bulging biceps in a "Flex City" match.  I've already featured one such match before in my blog, and now that I'm up and running again with a new computer, here's another Flex City match that's worth checking out.  The guys at 88 Wrestling pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one by lining up a match between Tanner Hill and the Z-Man.  I can't think of two other wrestlers who like flexing more than Tanner and the Z-Man.

Now, if you ever want to visit Flex City, there are some ground rules you need to be aware of.  Lucky for us, Tanner has offered to demonstrate them:

Whenever you scoop your opponent up, you like to parade him around and then slam his body down hard.  But in Flex City, you also gotta stand over him and flex your biceps!

You carry your opponent around over the shoulder?  You better flex!  Get him into a spine-snapping camel clutch, don't forget to flex!

You crack your opponent's back over the knee for a backbreaker, what do you do?  You flex those fucking biceps!  So, just follow Tanner's simple rules, and you'll be fine if you ever find yourself in Flex City.

And just a side note before we wrap things up, while this blog post features Tanner Hill, this match is by no means a squash job.  The Z-Man has plenty to flex about, too.  Both wrestlers put on a good show, and only one can win.  But to be honest, it's clear that both Tanner and Z-Man really enjoyed the flexing in this match as well as the wrestling.  And in that competition, they are both winners.

And one final note, Tanner obviously has a great body, and he's done some nice things in the wrestling ring over the years, but I didn't realize just how strong he has become:  Holy fuck!  This guy's a beast!

 Holy fuck!  Tanner's a beast!

Zman and the "Dad Bod"

It was about a year ago that the "Dad Bod" was all the rage.  Personally I didn't get it.  But what got me thinking about it again was a recent match from 88 Wrestling featuring one of my all-time favorite wrestlers, Zack Jonathan.  His real name is Zack Vazquez, and of course, we know him better as the Zman.  The dude has been around the wrestling ring for years.  It was three years ago when I paid tribute to his ten year anniversary as a star in the world of underground wrestling.  At the time I figured Zman's wrestling days were numbered, but he just keeps coming back.  Cameron Matthews once commented about how much he liked working with Zman because the guy just loves to wrestle.  Zman loves any opportunity to be in the ring.  That's good news for us, because I love seeing Zman in the ring.

So, this recent match at 88 Wrestling has Zman facing off against a newcomer named Jake Mason.  88 Wrestling describes the match up as "an intriguing dichotomy between two wrestlers at opposite ends of the spectrum in their wrestling careers."  Sounds like 88 Wrestling has some new college grad writing up its match summaries, but in this case it's pretty much on point.  Jake is just a kid with his pale, smooth body, which while athletic still looks like it's at least a few years away from its full physical potential.  It's not hard to imagine the peach fuzz on the newbie's face.  This contrasts with the seasoned veteran we have in Zman, with a face full of manly stubble and a tanned, shredded physique.  I mean seriously, has Zman ever looked better than this?  I don't know if Zman is a father or not, but looking at these two wrestlers, it's not too far fetched to imagine Zman being old enough to be Jake's father (assuming a young teenaged Zman sowing some wild oats in his high school days, perhaps).  That's why I'm stunned about how amazing Zman still looks.  That's the kind of "dad bod" I want to talk about!  Holy fuck!  And with age comes experience, which Zman uses to his advantage early in the match to school Jake in the world of underground wrestling.  As Zman dominates Jake with bodyslams, bearhugs, and abdominal stretches, you can't help but shout out "Whose your daddy!" to the computer screen to taunt the suffering kid.

Yet, as glorious as Zman's "dad bod" is, age does eventually come at a cost.  How long can a seasoned veteran last against the seemingly limitless energy of youth?  Jake may just be a kid, but stamina and endurance work in his favor, so don't count him out just yet.

Several years ago I was wondering if it was time to mark the end of Zman's wrestling career, but here we are in 2019, and the stud is still going strong.  I've learned not to count the Zman out yet, either.

The "Dad Bod" faces the onslaught of Youth.

The "Three Way"

Rex Bedford looks at his two shirtless buddies and says with a smirk, "I've always kinda wanted to be in a three-way."  Now, before you let your imaginations get the better of you, remember that I run a family-friendly blog here, not a porn site.  That's not the kind of "three-way" we're talking about.  Rather, 88Wrestling brings us a three-way wrestling match featuring Rex Bedford, Chase Lundquist, and Ethan Andrews (which is much, much better than porn in my book).

The three-man match has been a standard feature in pro-style wrestling for a long time.  It can take different forms.  In one scenario, you get two guys who team up together and dish out punishment on the third (like we saw before with Brad Barnes and Austin Cooper beating up on Ethan).  Another scenario has the single guy (usually a big dude) instead beating up on the other two wrestlers who try to gang up on him (a la Braden Charron against Cameron Matthews and Chris Richards).  And then you get the three-way match in its purest form where all three dudes are figthing against each other.

This match from 88Wrestling falls into the last category with Rex, Chase, and Ethan battling it out to prove who the top dawg is.  But you still get a taste of the other scenarios, too.  As the match progresses, we eventually see Rex and Chase form an alliance to take Ethan out.  What then follows is a temporary two on one battle.  Two of my favorite wrestlers beating up on Ethan?  I can watch that all day.  Then, with punk Ethan thoroughly defeated and out of the way, the combat turns to a contest between Rex and Chase.  Two of my favorite wrestlers battling it out in the ring?  I can watch that all day, too.  This is one of several matches that 88Wrestling filmed where the conditions obviously are hot in the ring.  I don't know if that's intentional, or maybe the air contitioning was broken.  As a consequence, you get a lot of sweat from the wrestlers, which adds to the appeal of their combat.  But you also get a slippery ring, which probably makes the wrestlers hold back a little bit on the action.  I really like to see power wrestling moves, with lifts and carries and slams, yet we don't get as much of that in this match as I would like because the mat surface quickly turns into a slip-and-slide with all the sweat.  But that's my only critique, because overall it's another fun and entertaining production by 88Wrestling.  As the fight continues, the contest transitions into a boxing match.  Eventually this leads to the conclusion where one stud flexes his sweat covered body in triumph over the knocked-out cold body of his opponent, leaving no dispute in the end who the top dawg is in this three man fight.

It's a "Three-Way" . . .  88Wrestling-style.

Ethan is Strong

Here are some more pics from 88Westling's awesome match featuring Rex Bedford and Ethan Andrews.  My last post was about Rex whose name means "king."  Today we're going to highlight Ethan, because I don't want to give you the wrong impression that this match was nothing more than Rex tossing Ethan about the ring.  No sir, Ethan is no one's whipping boy!  His name, by the way, means "strong" (or at least that's what came up when I googled it), and "strong" is definitely the right adjective for our Ethan Andrews.  He's strong enough to get into the ring to fight King Rex for the title belt, which is a tough feat for any mere mortal.  And from the pictures above, you can see that Ethan is physically strong.  He knows how to make another wrestler suffer, and suffer indeed did Rex at the hands of strong Ethan.  Why, Ethan is . . . well, he's . . . he's . . . oh fuck it!  That's enough about Ethan.  I want to get back to how awesome Rex is!

Ethan may be strong, but Rex is no pushover himself.  Ethan finds this out the hard way many times when bad boy Rex slams his sorry ass.  Yes, Ethan may be strong, but is he strong enough to overthrow the King?  King Rex isn't going to turn over the throne without a fight.

King Rex honors his fans by declaring today another Backbreaker Monday!
