Backbreaker Monday

It's Monday.  The first day of the work week. Seems like a good day to have a tribute to the backbreaker because a job can be backbreaking work, amiright fellas?  Too bad we all can't be pro wrestlers.  I know these dudes put in a lot of hard work, but in the ring they make it look like too much fun for it to be just a job.  Have a good week, guys, and keep up the good work!

Kota Ibushi

Japanese wrestler Kota Ibushi comes in at a strapping 5'11" and 190 pounds.  Very good stats for a wrestler, in my opinion.  In the past he's appeared at Ring Of Honor, but his current home is Dramatic Dream Team (DDT) wrestling in Japan.  DDT has several videos on YouTube that are worth checking out.  They have put on shows in some creative locations outside of a ring, including an apartment complex, a camp ground, and a parking lot.  I like the originality of it.  They think outside the box (or squared circle).

Water Sports

Some of my best summer memories come from spending time at the pool or the beach.  When I was younger being in the water with some of my friends inevitably led to wrestling around, especially if I was with any of my wrestling buddies.  The water made it great to practice throws and pro wrestling moves.  At a public pool we never paid much attention to the "No Horseplay" signs and only grudgingly toned it down a little after being berated from the life guard.  So now I'm no longer a teenager, but I have to admit whenever I'm in a pool with other dudes, the urge to wrestle is still pretty strong.

By the way, BG East has a whole series devoted to wrestling in a pool.  If you like that kind of stuff, be sure to check it out.

Davey's Bad Ass Attitude

One great thing about Davey Richards is his intensity. I don't think I've seen a picture of him smiling. He's a competitor who just wants to kick your ass. Davey has attitude. You can see that in these action photos where he's giving the finger with the hand he's got through his opponent's crotch. Not only is Davey publicly dominating another dude with one of the more humiliating holds in wrestling, but he's flipping off the crowd at the same time. That's bad ass, and I love it. The third picture above comes from a Cyberfights match where Davey's got Alex Koslov up with a really nice crotchlift before a brutal slam. The last picture is from Davey's match against Japanese wrestler Kota Ibushi. In that match, Davey effectively used successive bodyslams to soften up Ibushi's bones and muscles. This made it easier for Davey to use his massive thighs to squeeze the life out of the beaten and bloodied Ibushi (R.I.P.), as we saw in yesterday's post.

Davey Richards

Davey Richards is a popular wrestler judging by the amount of face time he gets at blogspots like Ringside and Beefcake. Of course it's easy to see why. He's only 5' 8", but at 210 pounds, that means he packs on the muscle. But I don't need to point that out because it's obvious in these pictures. Davey's solid, muscular body is just built for wrestling. Those powerful, thick arms are impressive looking. If he gets one of those between your legs to scoop you up, you'll be feeling that for days. I don't know why it took me so long to feature this stud in a post.

Davey's strongest feature may be his thighs. You can't bodyslam someone with your thighs, but you can still do some damage with them. We see this below when Davey used his thighs in a match a few years ago to crush the life out of Japanese wrestler Ibushi (R.I.P.).
