Number 500

So, today is a momentous occasion for my blog as I present post number 500.  I started this blog eight years ago with no real plan other than to make wrestling commentary about things that catch my interest.  And even today, that pretty much remains the rule for whenever I post something.  I have no real agenda for my blog.  I'm not trying to promote any particular point of view.  My primary motivation is not even to get people to read it, although I have to admit that I'm incredibly flattered that you guys do.  Sure, I don't get the numbers that bloggers like Joe at Ringside, Alex at The Cave, and Bruno at Beefcakes of Wrestling get.  Their blogs (and many others) are so much better than mine anyway, but I appreciate that there are some guys out there that find my pics and commentary interesting enough so that they take a few moments out of their week to check it out.  So with eight years gone and 500 posts on the books, what's in store for the future?  Do I have eight more years in me?  500 more blogs?  For all we know, this could be my last (not likely).  Or I could have thousands more (even less likely).  Who knows?  We'll just have to see what the wrestling muses have in store.

OK, enough of this sentimental crap.  The photo above comes from my very first post where I explained why I like the bodyslam.  While that commentary was not very insightful, I have to say that this pic is still one of my favorite bodyslams.  It's taken from a match years ago at Thunders Arena between Batar and some dude who's name I don't even remember anymore.  Why do I like this one so much?  Well, first you take the wrestlers, who are both muscular dudes in squarecuts (my favorite wrestling gear).  I like Batar's flag theme shorts in particular, because, you know, he loves America.  And how about how the legging kind of rides up a bit on one of his thighs?  And check out those thighs!  Talk about incredible.  And Batar shows awesome technique with his arm deep and secure through the other dude's crotch, holding him up high, and leaving no doubt he's the alpha wrestler during this match.  Batar actually delivers two nice textbook bodyslams here, and while the picture above is worth a thousand words, a gif or two on the subject make for a pretty good movie.

So do you guys have any favorite posts from over the years?  Let me know!

Kyle Stevens

I have to say that more and more I'm really impressed with thestable of wrestlers at Thunders Arena. One in particular is Kyle Stevens. Just one look at him shows he's a bodybuilder, and he's got his own website if you want to find out more. Kyle is not that tall at only 5'8", but he weighs 230 pounds, so he is really packed with muscle. I haven't come across a picture of him yet where he scoops a guy up just for a simple bodyslam. I guess when you're as strong a wrestler as he is, why bother? Just grab hold of your opponent and press him overhead. The slam that follows is all the more powerful. At first I thought his shaved head added a bit of fierceness to his persona, but then I realized that it's the raw power of his muscles. In these pictures it's clear Kyle really enjoys showing off this power when he wrestles. And who can blame him? I especially like how Kyle looks up at his dude while he's pressing him overhead. I can appreciate this. There is a certain satisfaction in putting a guy on his back in a wrestling match and seeing the look of panic on his face. It's a little arrogant and cocky, but no doubt Kyle Stevens can back that kind of attitude up.

Dominic vs. Batar

In my last post I recommended checking out Thunders Arena to see a variety of muscle boys gorilla pressing a variety of other muscle boys. Perhaps to prove my point, TA just posted a preview video of a match between Dominic and Batar. Not long ago I featured The Dominator, and he's winning big points with me again with a beautiful gorilla press on Batar. And Batar is no slouch himself. You can see him in my very first post executing the perfect bodyslam. The fierce look here on Dominic's face compliments the raw muscular power of the gorilla press. And I also like Batar's "what the fuck!" expression. Batar's right to be surprised because he's ten pounds bigger than Dominic, but Dominic has no problem proving he's the alpha wrestler. One thing about TA is that they like to set up their wrestling matches with a little humor. Here, this all began after Batar burned the pizza Dominic was going to eat for dinner (see what all Ringside has to say about it). So, now you have another way to get yourself pressed overhead. Just find some college muscle jock, burn his dinner, and soon you may experience the joys of flying.

Who to Bodyslam? - Part 2

I figured I'd continue on the theme of my last post, but with a little twist. Although I usually prefer to do the bodyslamming, there are some guys I want to bodyslam me. These guys here fall into this category. The first is Batar from Thunders Arena, and his technique is why I think it would be fun to be slammed by him. You can see examples here and here. He gets a deep, tight crotch hold and lifts you up high. These earn high style points in my book, and it makes for a beatiful bodyslam. The next guy is Zack Vazquez, who wrestles at Thunders Arena, Rock Hard Wrestling, and other productions. There's something about him that intimidates me, not exactly sure what, but it's a good intimidation. If we faced off together, it probably wouldn't be long before he took control and scooped me up for a slam or otk backbreaker. The third guy is Dave Calbrese from No Rules Wrestling. He's earned my respect by being a tough wrestler who can slam just about anyone. He would be fun to wrestle. And finally, there's Austrian wrestling stud Sexy Peter White. There's no doubt he would have my ass flying across the ring.

Red White and Blue

I've had a red, white, and blue USA wrestling singlet since before high school. And most of the serious wrestlers I knew did, too. There's nothing like proudly putting your colors on and walking onto the mat or into the ring, ready to dish out some punishment for the glory of your country. Here's a red, white, and blue bodyslam tribute in honor of July 4th. Have a great Independence Day everyone.

More Own that Dude

Been busy this month and haven't posted much. Just to get in one more post, I'll continue on the theme from the last one. Mostly when I lift a dude for a bodyslam it's while we are doing pro fantasy, so they basically just let me scoop them up like that. And even though we are just playing around, I like it when other guys just submit to me and let me dominate them. It's fun to be the heel.

Own That Dude

There are many things I like about the bodyslam, but one of the best parts for me is the very beginning when I reach in between my opponent's legs to grab him. There's just something about sliding my arm in through his crotch to secure a deep and tight hold. If he's got a muscular butt, I make sure to grasp it. Just before I begin lifting him up there's that moment where I like to clench my hold of his body and pull him tightly into my chest. Usually I pause a second so he can feel my arm in his crotch and my hand squeezing his butt. I know I'm gripping him just right if he lets out a little gasp. It's that moment when I say to myself I own this dude.

The Butt

So, you lift up your buddy into the air, and you want to humiliate him just a bit before the bodyslam. What do you do with your hand in his crotch? Sometimes a guy will ball his hand into a fist, but most times you just place the palm of your hand on the other guy's butt. And don't be afraid to squeeze his butt while you walk him around in dominating fashion. Wrestling is not a sport for the squeamish. Show your victim who's boss.

Why I Like The Bodyslam

Since I was a little kid watching pro-wrestling on TV, I have loved the bodyslam. What guy hasn't dreamed about having some muscle dude reach between his legs, lift him high in the air, parade him around the room, then dump him onto his back? Well, maybe not many guys have dreamed about it, but it is still a pretty cool thing to see. And executing a bodyslam on another wrestler is almost as fun as having it done to you. The strength, the power, the domination. You know who's boss after a bodyslam. (Note: action from www.ThundersArena.com - check them out!)
