School's In Session

No Rules Wrestling is not a fancy or glitzy wrestling production by any means, but I've always enjoyed their videos.  Periodically NRW will release videos of a new wrestler receiving training at their so-called "Fight School".  Usually, it's Dave Calbrese, the undisputed wrestling master of NRW, who gives the training.  And recently, newcomer Ben Shaw has been in the "classroom" to learn from the master.  I think it's great that while the rest of the world is hunkering down in the bunker out of fear of the coming apacolypse, class remains in session with Professor Calbrese.

Slams and spine torture are on the syllabus for young Ben Shaw at NRW's Fight School, and there's no better wrestler than Dave Calbrese, the expert on bodyslams and backbreakers, to teach Ben.  Luckily for Ben and Dave, another newcomer, Luke White, has graciously agreed to be the wrestling dummy during instruction.  If I were the one handing out grades for this course, I would give Ben a "B" for how well he executes the moves.  He's got some room for improvement, but as a newby, he's looking pretty good.  As for Luke White, technically he's not the student here, but he definitely earns an "A+" for being a suffering jobber.

As for Dave Calbrese, he's about as good as it gets.  One day I'm going to start my own underground wrestling company and begin producing matches of my own.  Bodyslams, gorilla presses, OTK backbreakers, and torture racks will feature prominantly in my matches.  And there's no doubt I need to bring in Dave Calbrese as a trainer for my stable of wrestlers.

Giving Thanks

For most you guys, you probably equate November with Thanksgiving, but for me each year it means I get to enjoy the November to Remember series at No Rules Wrestling.  Every year, NRW posts a new match each day of the month, and often there's at least one dedicated to the glorious backbreaker.  This year, it's a short match featuring NRW superstar Dave Calbrese breaking in a rookie wrestler named Arlo by dishing out some brutal back punishment.  My favorite part is when Calbrese scoops Arlo up and then drops the rookie over the knee repeatedly for backbreakers.  Few do it better than Dave Calbrese, and for that, I am truly thankful.

Another Backbreaker Monday brought to you by Dave Calbrese.
Happy Thanksgiving guys!

Backbreaker Monday

It's time again for another Backbreaker Monday post to pay homage to that awful first day of the week when we have to go back to work.  The sponsor for today's Backbreaker Monday is No Rules Wrestling, which recently produced a match featuring our favorite hero David Calbrese breaking the back of Lorenzo Smalls.  When it comes to an over the knee backbreaker, Calbrese is one of the best in the business.  Be sure to check out NRW.  For a limited time only, all matches are only five dollars!

Ouch!  That's how I felt after last night's Bears vs Packers game.

School Days

No Rules Wrestling is more than just an underground wrestling website.  It is also an educational institution.  It often features instruction videos, usually featuring Dave Calbrese and his School of Hard Knocks.  If you want to learn how to be a pro wrestler, I recommend that you check out these videos.  Of course, I like the one featured here where Calbrese teaches young rookie wrestlers Luca Rossi and "Showtime" Sammy Sabre the art of the bodyslam.  Calbrese truly is an accomplished expert in the field of pro wrestling, but what gets me about this video is the complete lack of interest that students Luca and Showtime have in their lesson.  Don't they realize they are in the presence of greatness here?  Showtime just stands in the corner looking bored, as if he's counting down the seconds until he can take his leave.  And Luca is even worse.  He looks like he's still recovering from an all night party at the frat house.

This must be frustrating for a professional like Calbrese.  He's a master of his art, and the younger wrestlers should be eagerly soaking up his knowledge.  But alas, like the lazy, self entitled millenials of today, they just stare back with vapid expressions of disinterest.  At least Calbrese knows how to get their attention back:

Ouch!  An over-the-knee backbreaker.  That'll wake you up, you dumb-ass punk!

Drake's Back

One of the more prolific wrestlers at No Rules Wrestling, especially in its earlier days, was Drake.  When I first came across NRW I though that maybe Drake was the owner of the company because he wrestled everybody and appeared in so many matches.  But without any fanfare Drake just sorta disappeared from the ring one day, and Dave Calbrese became the undisputed dominant force of No Rules Wrestling. But there's good news for all you Drake fans out there . . . Drake is back!  And one dude who really seems happy about this is Dave Calbrese, who is celebrating Drake being back by breaking Drake's back over and over again.  Drake looks bigger and more muscular than ever, but can his new and improved physique help him withstand double punishment from the Calbrese brothers?  Looks like he's got a tough road ahead of him if he wants to reclaim his status as king of the ring at NRW.

Teaching Jordan

Sorry dudes!  I know it has been a while since my last post, but sometimes life gets in the way of my blogging.  You know how it goes.  Anyway, to get us back on track, here's an excellent photo series of a cocky Dave Calbrese at No Rules Wrestling delivering an awesome over-the-knee backbreaker on Jordan Prince.  Who doesn't enjoy a good backbreaker?  It's sure to put a smile on every wrestling fan's face.  I love that Jordan is clad in white Under Armour shorts in this match.  It's a great look.  I just wish Calbrese was wearing UA shorts, too.  I know all you boys out there want Dave Calbrese to do this to you, too.  Sure, having your back broken over some wrestling stud's knee looks like a lot of fun, but just remember that you can end up like this:

We've seen Jordan Prince in my blog before pretty much suffering the same fate in another match against Dave Calbrese and one against Kevin Calbrese.  You've been taught the move, Jordan, so now it's time for you to give it a try.

Back to School

It's back to school time, and not just for all the boys and girls in the neighborhood.  Even wrestlers need to get their education, and No Rules Wrestling has a couple of new students eager to learn the ropes.  Who better to teach them than professor Dave Calbrese?  The first two pics above show Calbrese teaching Master Chase a thing or two, and the other pics feature Sean Quick learning the hard way what life is like in the NRW schoolyard, better known as the wrestling ring.  Master Chase appears to be about the same size as Calbrese, but that doesn't prevent him from getting tossed about by the professor.  In contrast, Sean Quick is a pretty small dude who gives up at least forty pounds to his teacher.  The size disparity really shows when Calbrese does arm curls with his student.  Maybe Calbrese assumes the role of bully here instead of the teacher.  It's a tough lesson for the little guy, but it's not his first at NRW.  Quick also received some instruction from a wrestler closer to his size in the form of Matt Meadlock, but seems he didn't fare so well in that class either.

Looks like the education of Sean Quick will be long and arduous.  And seriously, dudes, Matt Meadlock looks like a total beast here.  Fucking awesome.

Backbreaker Sunday

The dudes at Rock Hard Wrestling, No Rules Wrestling, Thunders Arena, and other internet based wrestlers make wrestling look like a bunch of fun and games, all for our entertainment.  But truth be told, like the above pictures show, sometimes wrestling can be hard, backbreaking work (ha ha, get it?  backbreaking?).  But then other times, as we see below, it's just pure unadulterated fun.
