What's In A Name?

In the world of wrestling, it's always hard to find out that you're not the best.  There are always other dudes out there who are bigger and stronger.  Cena (aka Tanner Hill) is one of my favorite wrestlers.  I hate to see him lose, but during a match at Underground Wrestler, he runs into someone bigger and stronger in the form of Brian Cage.  A bodybuilder and experienced professional wrestler, at 260 pounds of solid muscle Cage is a formidable opponent for anyone.  Our poor golden boy Cena doesn't stand a chance.  Things get off to a bad start when Cage learns Cena's name.  "You mean like John Cena?  That's awful!"  Then Cena makes the mistake of questioning how strong Cage really is.  Talk about a dumb blond moment.  For the rest of the match, Cena finds out just how strong his opponent really is, and our favorite blond wrestler becomes little more than a play thing for big, bad Brian Cage.  Oh, well.  You can't win them all.  Let's hope for his next bout, Cena/Tanner finds himself matched up with a guy closer to his size.

Cena takes his beating like a man!

Bodyslamming Beefcakes - Brian Cage

Most of you probably follow Bruno's blog at Beefcakes of Wrestling.  He's got good stuff, and I like to check it out myself.  I also like to borrow his "beefcake" theme every once in awhile, so that's what I'm doing today with a post featuring Brian Cage.  He's about six feet tall, 260 pounds, and totally musclebound, so Cage definitely meets the definition of a beefcake wrestler (and seeing how often Bruno has featured this guy on his blog, Bruno thinks so, too).  Cage wrestles a lot on the indy circuit.  In fact, I just saw him put on an impressive show the other night on Impact Wrestling.  But he's no stranger to underground wrestling on the internet, making appearances at Thunders Arena and Wrestler4Hire (as Barry Burke).  One of the things I like about W4H is how it features a lot of "regular" dudes, the type who are jocks but you won't normally see in a pro wrestling federation.  Can you imagine being a guy like that, showing up at W4H one day, and then finding out you're gonna perform in the ring against Brian Cage?  Holy shit!  Lucky for us, Cage likes to step into the ring and play around with these dudes.  After all, what else is a wrestling beefcake going to do?

But don't think it's just a walk in the park.  Brian will tell you, it's not always easy being a beefcake!

In Memoriam

The little dude in a big vs little wrestling match has to rely on his speed and agility if he's going to have any chance of surviving the contest.  That's why you often see these guys turn their bodies into human missiles by climbing the ring ropes and launching themselves at their beefcake opponents.  That's what we see in a match from Thunders Arena featuring little dude Bolt wrestling muscle beast Brian Cage.  But this strategy doesn't always work out well when the big guy catches the little dude in flight.  It just gives a muscle stud like the 255 pound Brian Cage the opportunity to show off his power and press the 150 pound Bolt overhead.

This match has been out for a few months, so why am I waiting til now to feature it?  Well, it's Memorial Day weekend, the time to honor warriors who have fallen in battle.  Wrestlers are warriors, after all, and in giving up over 100 pounds in this match, there's only one logical outcome for Bolt.  R.I.P. little dude.

Just kidding!  Take heart, Bolt fans.  The little guy is alive and well.  And if you get a chance to watch this match, you might find yourself surprised at how big this little dude appears.

Muscle Monday

My last post was inspired by an idea I stole from Bruno's Beefcakes of Wrestling blog.  Since that worked so well, I'm going to steal another idea from him and feature Brian Cage in a Muscle Monday post.  But this one is a double dose of muscle as we get to see the experienced bodybuilder pro wrestler appear in the ring with bodybuilder newbie Travis in a recent match at Thunders Arena.  Travis is still learning the ropes of wrestling, so TA sends him into the ring to be coached by Joey King, but is it really fair to have the young kid face off against a monster like Brian Cage?  Up to now Travis has been able to rely upon his massive muscles to get the better of smaller opponents despite his lack of wrestling skills.  But how much help will his big muscles (and flexing) be when wrestling the 6' and 255 pounds Brian Cage, who has no shortage of muscles to go along with his years of ring experience?  Looks likeTravis isn't the only one who gets to flex in this video.

Ring Wrestling

New match from Thunders Arena!  Why is this one worth posting about?  Well, last year TA began producing some of their matches in a pro style wrestling ring.  Most TA matches are filmed on a small wrestling mat, and while the products TA has produced over the years are (in my opinion) top notch, there's something about wrestling in a ring that seems to open up so many more possibilities.  This is really true for someone like me who likes the lift and carry aspect of pro wrestling.  You get a lot more of that kind of action when you put two studs in a ring to battle it out.  So I'm glad TA has added ring wrestling to the kind of matches they produce.  And this new match in particular is worth a look at.  Brian Cage versus Dozer.  Holy fuck!  Talk about a celebration of male muscle.  All I know about the match is from what TA teases us with on its website, but Brian Cage's gorilla press is enough to show that this one is a masterpiece.  It would be nice to see Dozer return the favor, but even if he doesn't, this match is destined to become a TA classic.

PS - I'm not done with Tiki Pepper.  Stay tuned!

Beefcake Brian Cage

I know I haven't been posting much lately, but it's been getting harder for me to spend time on my blog.  But I couldn't pass up the opportunity to post these pictures of Brian Cage in action for Pro Wrestling Guerilla in California.  This is also my way of tipping my hat to Bruno and his Beefcakes of Wrestling blog, of which I am a fan.  The first two action photos are particularly awesome because they show Brian Cage tossing around fellow beefcake wrestler Tony Nese.  The next two photos feature Cage humiliating two jobbers whose names I don't care to learn.  There's just something about a muscled up dude taking apart an inferior opponent in a wrestling ring.  All in all, I like these pictures.  (By the way, great photos by Devin Chen photography.)

Brian Cage

I'm jealous of Bruno and his Beefcakes of Wrestling blog because he has over 360 followers, so I'm going to steal a page from his book and feature a wrestler strictly based upon his beefcake qualities.  Most of you guys probably are already familiar with Brian Cage.  He's six feet tall, weighs 230 pounds, and wrestles at various indy promotions.  He's also a bodybuilder, like any good beefcake wrestler should be.  Take that, Bruno!
