Pretty Boys

Here are some scenes from a custom wrestling match at Spotland Scrappers called Bridge 2 Far.  This is another "slam and bridge" themed match, like the one I posted about a few weeks ago called Building Bridges, which featured Sam Smiler and LJ Silva.  The stars of today's match here are smaller guys Sammy Scrapper and Franky Dare.  I think compared to the beefier Sam Smiler and LJ Silva, Sammy and Franky here fall into the category of "pretty boys" at Spotland Scrappers.  Sure, they aren't like the faces we get to see wrestling at places like Muscleboy Wrestling or Wrestler4Hire.  But in the world of British style pro-wrestling, which brings to my mind images of pasty, flabby, and toothless skin-headed dudes, Sammy and Franky easily qualify as pretty boys.  And Sammy shows that you can be both a pretty boy and a heel as he dominates Franky for most of this match.  This is another good production by Spotland Scrappers for those of us who like lift and carry wrestling.

Random Racks

Sometimes I think about changing the title of my blog to "Bodyslam and Torture Rack Fan", but since the current name has such strong brand recognition, it's probably best not to mess with it.  Still, that doesn't mean I can't post awesome pictures of torture racks (since it's my blog, I guess I can post whatever I want).  I like shoulder racks for many of the same reasons I like bodyslams.  It's a great lift and carry move that gives the alpha wrestler the opportunity to show who is in charge.  And it's easier to pick up and carry around your victim in a rack than it is for a bodyslam.  But from a jobber's perspective it can be different.  A bodyslam can be kind of fun at first because you get picked up and carried around before the pain of the slam, but with a torture rack, the punishment comes immediately with being carried around.  And if you want to be a super alpha wrestler, you can make the jobber suffer for as long as you want with a rack.  Several of the pics above come from Thunders Arena because the wrestlers there do a great job with torture racks.  But the move has universal appeal among all wrestlers, so you can see it pretty much anywhere.  It's just an awesome move.

Spotland Scrappers

On occasion when surfing the internet trying to find things to blog about, I come across Spotland Scappers, which is an English wrestling production.  I've never paid too much attention to them before, but recently I started checking out what they have to offer.  It's not fancy, but they make a lot of entertaining videos for download, including pro style matches, matroom wrestling, and custom matches.  One custom match I came across features the two wrestlers you see here, Sammy Scrapper in the red shorts against Sam Smiler.  It's advertised as a lift and carry video, so of course I had to check it out.  Our boy in red Sammy mostly plays the heel, but I hope to find a match where Sam Smiler takes on that role.  Overall it's a fun match to watch and makes me want to check out more of Spotland Scrappers.  I have to say of the four pics I posted here, the top one is my favorite.  When you want to prove that you are a dominant alpha wrestler, that's how you need to lift and carry a dude around.  It makes an impression on your opponent.  I wish more wrestlers would do this.
