Kevin Lin

Yo!  I don't know why I haven't done so before, but recently I decided to check out Underground Championship Wrestling, and I'm glad I did.  Here are some pics from a match between Eli Black and Kevin Lin.  Eli has already made a few appearances in my blog, but this is Kevin's debut.  I've featured several Asian professional wrestlers in my blog before, but it's rare to find an Asian active in underground wrestling, so Kevin here is an excellent find.  I'll probably have to check out his other matches at UCW where I hope he dishes out more otk backbreakers on his opponents.  For additional pictures and some excellent commentary about this match, be sure to check out Joe's blog at Ringside.

So, can someone please explain to me why I really, really, really want to have a wrestling match against Kevin Lin right now?

September Blues

The wrestling in today's post is strictly allegorical.  Anyone who is an NFL fan (or any fan of a major sports team) can probably understand what I'm saying here.  In the pictures above, Steel Muscle God represents the football gods, and the dude with the broken back represents me.  Every year it seems September begins full of promise, excitement, and anticipation.  But it's funny how often I end up feeling like this by the end of the month:

King of the Gods

Because of the Olympics I want to get back to the international nature of wrestling and feature one of my favorite wrestlers from Asia -- Zeus (real name Kenshou Obayashi).  In Greek mythology Zeus is the king of the gods, so the name is well chosen here.  Although he's Asian, he's got the body of a Greek god.  And from the pictures here, I'd say Zeus is the king of the Japanese wrestling gods.  The dude's got muscles, and he's not afraid to use them.

Horse Play

Hey guys!  Here's a picture of me hanging out by the pool while I enjoy the great summer weather.  Ha ha!  It's not really me.  Maybe you recognize this dude as Steel from Thunders Arena.  I just caught a preview of a new match TA released of Steel wrestling Tak in a rooftop pool in Vegas (Bear is also there to join the fun).  It brought back memories from when I was a kid hanging out at the pool during the summer with my buddies.  One public pool we went to had a list rules prominently displayed, and rule number one was "NO HORSEPLAY!"  Of course, when you get a group of kids in a pool together, and some of them are wrestlers, there's going to be horse play.  I can still hear the lifeguard yelling at us, "Hey, no horseplay!"  In this match between Steel and Tak, it looks like the rough housing gets a little out of hand, especially for Tak.  Good thing for Steel there's no lifeguard there to yell at them to stop the fun.

Check out Thunders Arena for a preview of the match, and Joe at Ringside has also got some nice commentary and pics to enjoy.

Ivan Kiev

With the Olympics going on, it reminds me of how universal a sport wrestling is.  This post celebrates the international flavor of the sport by going overseas to feature wrestler Ivan Kiev.  He wrestles in Berlin for the German Wrestling Federation.  Although his bio on the GWF website says he was born in Berlin and lists his nationality as German, he carries an obvious Ukrainian persona into the ring, what with the name Ivan Kiev and the blue and yellow tights.  He dishes out some pretty good bodyslams while he's in the ring, too.

At 6'2" and 205 pounds, Kiev is a tall, lanky wrestler.  I'm a fan of taller wrestlers and love to see them bodyslam other dudes.  In fact, I've always wanted to be scooped up and bodyslammed by a real tall wrestler myself.  Kiev is a few inches taller than average, but those extra inches make his slams look more impressive.

Fantasy Wrestling

It's been a slow summer blogging, I have to admit.  I haven't found much inspiration to post things, at least not from my usual sources.  So let's try something different here.  I can have an active imagination when it comes to wrestling, and this has led to me create a fictional wrestling league called Muscle Beach Wrestling.  It features the kind of wrestlers and action you see in Rock Hard Wrestling and Thunders Arena.  The athletes primarily are fitness and underwear models you can find on the internet.  The dudes usually wrestle barefoot in a ring wearing boxer briefs, Under Armour shorts, or wrestling singlets.  Basically, just pick two male models you'd like to see wrestle, put them in the ring, and imagine how you want to see the match go.  Best two out of three falls wins.

Here I've got an example of a typical wrestling match.  It features 21 year old bodybuilder Gerardo Gabriel, who comes in at 5' 8" and 180 pounds.  His opponent is 24 year old fitness model Michael Fitt at 5' 8" and 165 pounds.  How do you see this match go?  It's totally up to you, but here's a little hint about what happens in my version of the match:

Sorry Michael.  You're lean and fit and all, but I don't see how you get past Gerardo and his muscles.  And Gerardo likes to bodyslam.  A lot.  Luckily for Michael, he enjoys being manhandled in such a fashion.

A special thanks to 09tuf of Deviant Art for helping bring to life my vision of the match between Gerardo Gabriel and Michael Fitt.  Check his site out for a lot of great wrestling drawings and other things.  You can even commission him to do a drawing for you.

Summertime Slams

Hey!  It's summer time and things are really starting to heat up!  Here are some random action pics for you guys to enjoy.  There's no better way to enjoy the warmer weather than to strip your shirt from your musclebound torso and get all alpha by bodyslamming some other dude.
